Visit to IIT Bombay
Our group of interns from Vishwakarma University had an incredible two-day visit to IIT Bombay as part of the VUII Internship program.
Day 1:
- Prof. B.K. Chakravarthy's Session: We learned about his journey in bringing innovative products, like a rocking chair for the elderly, to market.
- Bamboo Studio: We explored the potential of bamboo as a sustainable material through beautiful art pieces and innovations.
- Betic Lab: We were amazed by the cutting-edge medical innovations, particularly in metal prosthetics.
- Student Innovation Showcase: We were inspired by presentations from students like Souvik, Gaurav, and Akansha, who shared their ideas for Parkinson’s patients and market-focused furniture.
Day 2:
- Prof. Sandesh and Prof. Avinash Sende’s Sessions: They shared their experiences in product development, using diverse materials, and collaboration to solve real-world problems, including bamboo furniture and e-rickshaws.
- Medical Innovation: Prof. Purba Joshi discussed her work on improving the lives of Parkinson’s patients through collaboration with rehab centers.
- Our Greenhouse Presentation: We had the opportunity to present our greenhouse idea, receiving invaluable feedback.
Takeaways:
This visit emphasized the importance of mentorship, collaboration, and innovation in product design. The insights we gained will guide our future work in creating impactful solutions.
We are designing an innovative joinery system that simplifies transportation and assembly, ensuring efficiency and ease for users while maintaining durability and functionality.
